Audience
The audience for this course is SharePoint administrators who are responsible for
the planning, deployment, management and troubleshooting of search and indexing
solutions using Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007.
Students need to have attended our 5-day SharePoint Administrator Course and/or
our 4-day Search Server course or possess equivalent knowledge. This is not an introductory
course and should not be attended by students who have never worked with SharePoint
Server 2007 Search technologies.
Because this is a workshop, no printed course materials are provided. Instead, students
will learn, in an inductive manner, how to troubleshoot and deploy Search technologies
at an Advanced level.
The first day of the course will focus on troubleshooting skills. The students will
be asked to leave the room while the instructor "breaks" their images. Then the
students will be called back into the room, given a common complaint and then asked
to troubleshoot the problem. Each problem given to the students will illustrate
part of a larger, methodical troubleshooting framework that can be used back at
the office to troubleshoot search problems. At the end of the day, students will
have a methodical "track" to use to diagnose and resolve search problems. While
this track won't solve every conceivable problem, the track will resolve most search
problems if used as intended.
