Come to this 2-day seminar to get a handle on how to upgrade your current infrastructure to SharePoint 2010. There were many changes made and there are new requirements. This 12 module seminar will take you from understanding the philosophy behind the upgrade process to introducing you to a new toolset, then finally how to mitigate and remedy upgrade failure.

Module 1 - Upgrade Philosophy

The upgrade process was re-architected with the administrator in mind. This module discusses those changes and how it affects the process.

Module 2 - Upgrade Technical Details

This module discusses the flow of the sequence of steps which make up the Upgrade Process.

Module 3 - Advanced Upgrade Techniques

There were three supported scenarios in the previous upgrade. This has changed, and thus administrators should know their options. This module discusses how to proceed with an upgrade in difficult environments.

Module 4 - Upgrade Planning

What should an administrator do to prepare for an upgrade to SharePoint 2010? What previous versions are supported to directly upgrade? How much time will an upgrade take? This module discusses these and other common questions administrators ask about upgrade.

Module 5 - Upgrade Failures and Troubleshooting

Even proper planning cannot prevent some errors from happening, and what about those unexpected errors that occur? This module discusses how to mitigate failures and recover from errors that do occur.

Module 6 - Upgrade Preparation Tools

With the advent of SharePoint 2007 Service Pack 2 came many tools to help administrators prepare their environments.

Module 7 - Windows PowerShell Upgrade Cmdlets

PowerShell is the administrator’s tool de force when it comes to SharePoint. This module illustrates many of the Cmdlets available to administrate SharePoint.

Module 8 - Feature Upgrade

What to do with the features that were deployed in the previous versions of SharePoint? This module helps you prepare those features for deployment in SharePoint 2010.

Module 9 - Visual Upgrade

Even administrators know when a site doesn’t look “quite right”. This module discusses how to prepare the look and feel for the upgrade to SharePoint 2010.

Module 10 - Patch Management

One of the things that were introduced in this version is the ability to ensure the SharePoint farm has the same level of updates and patches across the environment. This module discusses how this happens.

Module 11 - Downtime Mitigation Processes

There is always downtime in an upgrade, even a little. This module explains how to minimize the amount of downtime needed to accomplish a successful upgrade.

Module 12 - Parallel Upgrade Pipelines

Some environments are more complex than others. This module discusses migration for multi-farm or large environments.

Module 13 - Content DB Upgrade with AAM Redirection

One of the techniques used in previous versions of upgrade. This module discusses how a database attach differs in this version.
